to make the top i cut two pieces of 19 mm pine. when gluing them together i made sure the grains were opposite so it doesn't bend to help with this i added biscuits between the joins. i clamped the table together as it dried ensuring that they weren't too tight so the table didn't bow. after it had dried i gave it a light sand on the belt sander to remove lips from the joins and maker sure the table top was flush. when i cut the top square i made sure it had 20mm overhang over the front and sides but was 20 mm away from the back so a backstop can fit in the back to prevent items from falling off. when using the belt sander and band saw i was wearing earmuffs to protect against the ni]noise and safety glasses to prevent flying chips and saw dust from irritating my eyes a dust extractor was running also to help keep saw dust to a minimum.
